Nina Gantz creates ceramicist William De Morgan inspired stop motion ad for LOEWE

An Otter’s Tale brings the world of British arts and craft ceramicist William De Morgan to life in a beautifully crafted commercial to launch the Spanish fashion brand LOEWE’s Christmas Capsule collection.

William De Morgan-inspired Festive Campaign for LOEWE

Animation director Nina Gantz and Blinkink worked with acclaimed puppeteer Josie Corben (Isle of Dogs) on this combination of live action models and stop motion creatures. Everything from the trees and foliage to the animals and scenes of burning flames was hand-crafted in stop motion animation, then integrated into the beautiful Leighton House in Holland Park – home to some of William De Morgan’s original artwork and designs.

“It’s a wonderful, inspirational, kind of strange world, so it was a pretty cool brief to get,” says Gantz. “What I really love is that you see the craft, your seeing the touch of every person  that works on it really hard, from set design to puppet making and the animators, and I think that ads give me that opportunity to work with the most amazing people in this industry.”

Set to an original recording of choral music specially composed for the campaign by Terence Dunn with the Brighton Festival Chorus of 120 singers. Watch the making of An Otter’s Tale here:
